AID FOR TOURIST INVESTMENTS

The purpose of the present scheme is to grant aid to a wide range of tourism investments, mainly relating to the creation, extension, and modernization of an integrated form of tourist accommodation throughout the territory, with the aim of upgrading the quality of the tourist product.

The investment projects covered by the scheme shall relate to:

a) establishment or expansion of hotel units of at least four (4) stars,

b) modernization of an integrated form of hotel units belonging to or upgraded to a category of at least three (3) stars, after five years from the start of operation of the unit or from the date of completion of the previous modernization investment of the integrated form of the unit onada, as well as modernization of non-main tourist accommodation, provided that they are upgraded to a category of at least three (3) stars,

(c) extension and modernization of an integrated form of hotel units that have ceased their operation, provided that during the interruption period there has been no change of use of the building and that, through the extension or modernization of a complete form, they are upgraded to a category of at least four (4) stars,

d) establishment, expansion, and modernization with an integrated form of tourist organized camps (camping), which belong or are upgraded to a category of at least three (3) stars,

(e) establishment and modernization of an integrated form of hotel units within designated traditional or listed buildings, which belong or are upgraded to a category of at least three (3) stars,

f) establishment, expansion, and modernization of complex tourist accommodation, as defined in Law 4276/2014 (A’ 155), which are submitted as single plans, not including the buildings and facilities to be transferred or leased for a long-term period,

(g) establishment and modernization of a number of non-main tourist accommodation establishments, provided that,

(ga) bear the distinctive title ‘hostel’;

(i) mountainous areas, in accordance with the classification of ELSTAT, outside the municipal units constituting part of the urban planning complex of Athens, (ii) areas up to thirty (30) kilometers from the border; (iii) islands with a population of less than three thousand hundred (3 100) inhabitants.

(gg) are classified in a category of five (5) keys, in accordance with decision no. 12868/2018 (B’ 3119) of the Minister of Tourism and (gd) maintain a minimum of twenty (20) rented rooms.

h) establishment, expansion, and modernization of the name of condo hotels, as defined in Law 4276/2014, provided that the transfer or the long-term lease of reinforced parts there takes place after the end of compliance with the measures long-term obligations of the investment operator, subject to approx. (g) of para. 3 of Article 25 hereof.
